The botanical realm: a place of transience, the ephemeral, revelations. I return to it over and over again, compulsory explorations of root, leaf, stem. The gesture of a leaf turning over, the act of dying, blooming. The cycle becoming all encompassed within the lens, captured, transformed into something more and less than what it began as. I construct womb-like landscapes from the smallest detail of the botanical, building whole worlds from the sliver of a plant leaf, from the dirt clinging to a root. Each photographic image seeking to transcend the base botanical into something more, fragility and intentionality circling one another, never confident which will prevail. The ephemeral moment paused, manipulated, given rebirth.
